Working Ranch
Sierra River Ranch has a rich history with animals that we are excited to carry on. While there are no longer chimpanzees living here, we will soon welcome horses to our barns.

Stone House
The Stone House is available to our short-term guests upon request. It can be transformed for your needs – an intimate chapel, a farm-to-table dinner space, a poker room, a wine bar, and more! No outside events or additional guests are allowed.
Garden & Orchard
Soon, our edible garden will available for guests to enjoy. The orchard is an autumn favorite and produces delicious apples, crabapples and pears.
An Eccentric PasT
Sierra River Ranch is no ordinary ranch; it’s a living testament to the extraordinary. Since its establishment in 1932, our ranch has been a sanctuary for history, hosting a cast of characters that make it a unique chapter in Reno’s narrative.
From being the home of the first chimpanzees to learn sign language to serving as a discreet haven for those navigating the challenges of divorce, Sierra River Ranch has seen it all.
The ranch was recently renovated to meticulously preserve the charm that defines our property while adding luxurious modern comforts. We honor the footsteps of those who graced these grounds before us and it is our privilege to continue the tradition of providing a unique haven for travelers.
